FEATURES: Locating pin that provides precise location in one axis while allowing considerable float in the perpendicular axis. Usually used together with a Round Pin, to locate from two holes in a workpiece. Tapered tip for easy part loading. Floating pins are functionally similar to Diamond Pins, except they allow greater variation in hole spacing. Made in USA.
LOCATING PRINCIPLES: When a Round Pin and Floating Locating Pin are used together, the Round Pin is the primary, 2-axis locator, while the floating pin is the secondary, 1-axis locator. The locating pin slides inside a slotted bushing, in line with the Round Pin. This prevents binding while loading and unloading the part, yet still maintains high accuracy.
SIZES: Available in the following pin diameters from 1/4 to 5/8", with either a short bushing or a tall bushing — see Dimensions page for part numbers: SPECIALS: For Floating Locating Pins with a special locating-pin diameter (A dimension), please contact factory.
MATERIAL: Slotted bushing > Tool steel, heat treated, black oxide finish. Locating pin > 1144 steel, heat treated, black oxide finish. Cross pin and roll pin > Steel. |
