SWING CLAMPS

All Threaded
(Shown with Long Clamping Arm)

For optional clamping
arms or lock rings, see
Swing Clamp Accessories.

For applications using single-acting
clamps in flood coolant, see
Venting of Internal Spring Area.

Available with clockwise, counterclockwise,
or zero° swing.

Choose a Pivoting Clamping Arm for 7500 psi max (requires a rear support), a Gooseneck Clamping Arm for 5000 psi max, or a Long Clamping Arm for 3000 psi max.

7500/5000/3000 psi max
Single and Double Acting

FEATURES: Arm swings clear for easy loading. All-threaded version is ideal for mounting through a fixture plate, to keep fluid lines out of the working area. Sturdy helical-cam mechanism with overload protection. Arm can be mounted to start its 90° swing from any position within 360°.

SIZES: Available in four sizes, each with a choice of clockwise, counterclockwise, or zero° swing, single or double acting, standard fittings or manifold mounting — see Dimensions page for part numbers. Available with 45° and 60° swing angles by special order. Double-acting clamps are also available with longer clamping strokes (25mm or 50mm) by special order. Clamping force at 7500 psi for single-acting clamps with a pivoting clamping arm:
 1100 Lbs  (3 series)
 2700 Lbs  (5 series)
 4300 Lbs  (6 series)
 7600 Lbs  (7 series)

CLAMPING ACTION: Swing Clamps are pull-type cylinders where part of the total stroke is used to swing the piston, and the remaining stroke is available as the clamping range. Applying fluid pressure swings arm 90° over workpiece then clamps down. Single-acting version has a fast, totally dependable spring return that lifts arm then swings it back 90° for loading/unloading. Optional fluid return (double acting).

OVERLOAD PROTECTION: These Swing Clamps incorporate our unique safety-clutch mechanism. If the clamping arm strikes an unexpected object during its swing, the clutch disengages to avoid damaging the object or the clamp's helical-cam mechanism.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS: Do not exceed maximum fluid flow rate in table. For extended clamp life and proper operation of the safety clutch, a simple flow-control valve may be required if the fixture is powered by a high-flow-rate power source and only contains a few clamps. Clamping time should be at least one second.

MOUNTING: Two methods: 1) Mount through a tapped hole in the fixture plate, securing with a lock ring; 2) Mount through a bored hole in the fixture plate, securing with two lock rings.

FLUID CONNECTION: 1/4" BSPP port (two for double-acting clamps). Do not use NPT fittings.

CLAMPING ARM: Order clamping arm separately. Maximum allowable operating pressure depends on the type of arm selected. Choose a Pivoting Clamping Arm for 7500 psi max (requires a rear support), a Gooseneck Clamping Arm for 5000 psi max, or a Long Clamping Arm for 3000 psi max. Longer, custom clamping arms will further reduce allowable operating pressure, inversely proportional to arm length.

CONSTRUCTION: Piston > Alloy steel, nitrated for wear and corrosion resistance. Housing > Mild steel, nitrated for wear and corrosion resistance. Piston rod wiper > Viton.
